The 'Tamang Heritage Trail' is a new trekking route on the borders of Tibet it is a very rewarding add on to the Langtang Valley Trek located between Langtang and the Ganesh Himal. The region is steeped in Tibetan tradition and culture and the local Tamang people are recognised as being some of the warmest and most welcoming people in Nepal. The region does not require a special permit other than the normal Langtang trekking permit. From Kathmandu we take the road north towards the Tibetan border to Syabrubesi rather than take the normal trail up the Langtang Valley we travel north east to enjoy a relatively gentle circuit trek through some truly picturesque villages, terraced fields and peaceful valley, At present this trail is near virgin territory and it provides some fantastic mountain views of the nearby peaks there is also an opportunity to bathe in the natural hot springs at Tatopani. Continuing north towards Tibet on the way there is a local fort along with a monastery and the local architecture of this region is fascinating and quite different from that found in other areas of Nepal. At the end of the trek we make a home stay at Briddim and have a full day to relax and discover more about the local traditions of the area. There are some dramatic views of Langtang Lirung (7245m.), Langtang Kerung, Chimse Danda ridge crossed by Ganjala Pass (5122m.), Dorje Lakpa (6989m.), Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Paldor peak, Shringi Himal, Manaslu and Sanjen Himal ranges. The trail starts either from Dhunche or Syabrubesi and passes through Goljung, Gatlang, Thuman, Timure, Briddim, Lama Hotel, Langtang valley and Kyangjin Gompa. Goljung, Gatlang and Langtang are traditional Tamang villages culminating cultural features. The visit to the beautiful local Tamang monastery and the holy Parvati Kund Lake at Gatlang adds exhilaration to your trekking.
